Around The World.. stopping inBrazil

The 4th graders at Grant M Bowler elementary do around the world week every year.
This year was no different. The children choose a country and then study it, do severel projects and the finally is that on the Friday of the final week, the parents bring in a dish from that particular country for sampling. There were 2 very long school lunchroom tables full of food.
The kids get to go through first and then the adults... Oh by the way, he picked Brazil because that is where he thinks he would like to serve his mission. So I made some stuff that I used to cook when we lived in LA.
Technically,I think it was Cuban food, but I'm pretty sure they eat the same stuff in Brazil.
It was Arroz con frijoles negros, Plantino fritos, y Pollo mojo.
Translation: black beans and rice,fried plantains and chicken mojo.

The kids were super busy last week with all of their fun things that they do and as the school year draws to a close we get even busier !

RJ had his Boy Scouts Pine wood derby. Phill helped him make the car and it has an original Shelby Autos Inc. Paint job on it. including the clear topcoat. You can see Olivia in the background, and Grandpa Dudley too !

Emmie had her Ballet and Jazz Recital and it was really cute! She did a really good job remembering all of the steps and she is tall and lean like a dancer too

Naomi Had her Spring Orchestra concert and she had been practicing her butt off !!
She was first Chair Viola too !! Yeah Nae !!! Doesn't she look so pretty !

My First Truck !

So here is the picture of the truck from the Ebay add ( looked like it was in great shape...)

This is my very first truck ! I bought it on Ebay in October and it has been hanging out in the backyard waiting for an engine. So Uncle Lavar brought and engine from Arizona and Phill rebuilt it, and last weekend Phill and our friend Jaime dropped it into the truck !

And here are the pics of the engine going in... oh and by the way, Have I mentioned how freakin excited I am to get my truck running !!!

When it is, I am loading it up with hay and driving in circles around town over and over !

It took me a long time, but I'm pretty sure that I found that one.

You know that one that makes love feel peaceful.

I always thought I was smart, but it seems that I am a slow learner.

He's a pretty cool guy and he can fix just about anything (including me).

Oh Yeah and we got married on March 7th ! Oh Happy Day !

This year we have planted a pretty good sized garden! See!




We have lot of Tomato plants, cherry, beefsteak and Roma.
We have collard greens, carrots, spaghetti squash, cucumbers, zucchini, watermelon, banana peppers, asparagus,bell peppers, broccoli ( that has gone to seed already because it is way to hot here) grapes, raspberries, and have an herb garden with, cilantro, fennel, basil, dill, thyme.... maybe some other things. It's hard to remember them all. Oh yeah and we have Banana trees and an apricot tree.

I have already made goo gobs of Zucchini bread and cookies and muffins..... Guess we're gonna have to start giving them away !

Saturday 05/17/08

Saturday was the day that we delivered the meat to the people who bought the animals that RJ and Olivia raised this year for the Clark county fair.
RJ raised a black lamb named Leonard and Olivia raised a pig that she named Ophelia.

We miss them, but the whole thing is a great learning experience for the kids, as well as for Phill and I.

This is My oldest , Olivia. She is 15 and will be sweet 16 on December 12th !!! She is sweet and thoughtful and creative and sensetive to all of mommas "locuras". She is my little artist and she is a peacemaker... sometimes.
Pretty sure that God gave me this one to keep me in line :)

Next we Have Naomi ! She is a firey redhead and has been since day one.
She absolutely loves animals. She is 12 and will be 13 on November 16 !
She is currently fascinated with the "Twilight" series and has read all the books in the series and started them over.

My 3rd Baby is RJ... He is ten years old. He is sweet, super smart and loving. He loves to cuddle and always has a hug for me ! He loves football and is a St Louis Rams fan.

He's playing tackle football this fall and he can't wait!

He is my sweet little man.

Last But not least I have little Emilia Claire aka Emmie. She is 7 and turning eight in September !
She is just finishing the 2nd grade. She is obsessed with her webkins and right now we have to pull her off the computer !

She is very kind and lovey she needs lots of attention and is quick witted too !!

My Very First Day

Today is my very first day of this "blogging" thing..... I guess it's more for me than for anyone.. I don't keep records of what we ( me n the kids n phill) do so I guess I'll put a little in this blog.
It feels alot like a commitment and I've found that I have fear of commiting and following through on things.... so here goes !
